Rumours and Ribbons is a competitive board game set in Jane Austen’s literary universe, in which well-mannered young ladies spread scandal and gossip to gain Prestige—and thoroughly ruin their rivals’ reputations.
Do not miss the social pamphlet detailing the gossip of the “the ton” written by the anonymous writer, A Lady. Which scandal are they going to tell?
Immerse yourself in a world of glittering balls, grand weddings, and elegant gowns—but also of scandal, gossip, and sharp tongues. Sometimes, a single ribbon out of place is enough to ruin one’s reputation.
Step into the shoes of your favorite Misses, choose the best Suitors, and visit the iconic settings of Jane Austen’s world—all brought to life with numerous hand-drawn illustrations by the game’s own creators.
Every well-bred Miss aims to become the most prestigious of them all—without, of course, causing a Scandal. On your turn, you’ll use actions to visit neighborhood locations, purchase Dresses, study Disciplines, amass a Dowry, and improve your Decorum and Prestige.
Create a Scandal by playing Gossip cards to gain an advantage over your rivals! But beware—everything comes at a price… Any Gossip cards lingering in your Scandal pile will reduce your Prestige at the end of the game.
Reserve “A Lady’s Society Papers“ — an Exclusive Mini-Expansion limited set of elegant cards filled with intrigue, only available before the campaign begins.
Show off your finest dresses and fashion accessories! Being the most elegant young lady will let you choose first which Suitor to dance with—but it will also make you an easy target for the biting gossip your rivals will spread throughout the evening.
At the end of your turn, choose a Gossip card and exchange it with one from another Miss. Compare the value of the Gossip cards: if your rumour is the juicier one, play it immediately on your rival, forcing her to suffer its effects before discarding it into her Scandal pile.
It won’t be just your rivals’ sharp tongues testing your strategy: the harsh judgment of a dreaded noblewoman, being left at the altar, or running into the neighborhood’s old gossiper at precisely the wrong moment could undo all your careful plans!
